One sure sign of a change of seasons for me are front doors. I’m not sure how it got started or why but I have several clients that I decorate around their front doors for the different seasons and holidays.
I kind of think it’s a southern thing, I’ll try to do some research and figure that one out. I have client’s that I change out their doors for all four seasons, some combine spring and summer so I change theirs out 3 times a year and I have a couple that I only decorate their front porch and door for Christmas. Some of my client’s use the same materials for a few years and some I change it up every time, regardless I LOVE doing the doors. It let’s me do something big and be a little over the top and work with materials that I don’t get to use all the time. Today I’m going to share the fall doors I’ve done this season and talk along the way about what and why I did what I did. Enjoy!!!
On this door I used orange and gold mesh ribbon, the gold one takes on the look of burlap, but with some sparkle to it.
I try to keep an organic and natural feel to each door decoration. Seems that sunflowers might be a theme this year.
I did purple in this decoration last year for the first time and the homeowner loves it, it really pops agains the red brick and stained doors.
I really like the way all these colors work together: gold, reddish orange, purple and fall foliage.
I always start with a base of grapevine, then mesh ribbon, then add the foliage and garlands to the top of that. It’s really all about layers.
This door has lots of dark rich colors, like chocolate brown, dark orange, dark greens and even some artificial Pheasant feathers.
So that’s this year’s round of Fall Door Decorations, leave me a comment and let me know what you think. We’ll check back in several weeks when they get changed out for Christmas, it’s only 87 days away.
