A couple of weeks ago I did a post on design books being released in the month of October, one of those books is called Vintage Industrial: Living With Machine Age Design, I was very intrigued with this book and started doing some research into the Industrial Design movement.
There are many things about this look I like, such as the use of wood and iron, oftentimes together. The rawness of some things such as using uncovered light bulbs, barn doors and the use of unfinished woods. I like the use of colors such as blacks and grays as well as metallic finishes such as bronze and copper.
I think one of the greatest appeals of this look to me is the vintage or retro feel of it while still feeling masculine. I know this isn’t for everyone, but I definitely think there are aspects of Industrial you could mix with other designs and it would look amazing.
The use of “barn doors” in Industrial is one of my favorite things.
Love how they echo the wood on the island in the shelves above the stove, and those barstools, WOW!!
So many aspects of the Industrial look involve “repurposing” items, like this former
wagon or cart that’s now a coffee table.
and these pipe and bottle wall sconces are genius.
I know copper isn’t cheap but imagine this wine rack done with rebar or thin pipe,
mounted on a board and leaning against the wall.
These shelves would be so easy, floor mount brackts, pipe, end caps and reclaimed wood.
This table is gorgeous, huge, but gorgeous.
Imagine a smaller size in your dining room or breakfast area.
I’ll take it!!!!!
Exposed brick walls are a huge part of the Industrial look, again it’s the rawness of things.
This would be great by a back door or in a mudroom, everyone has their own basket.
Again, a great DIY to bring a little industrial to the bath.
As you can see, I have a thing for open shelving.
Exposed brick, metal chairs, big wooden trestle table, exposed bulbs.
Love these lights!!
So, what are your thoughts on the Industrial Decor look? Love It or Leave It?
