I thought this Christmas week I would share with you some of the homes I’ve decorated this year for the holidays. This first home is one I’ve done for several years and have featured the homeowner’s front door a couple of times in posts on that subject.
The home itself is very traditional in design and the homeowner’s tastes run towards the traditional, although we’ve been doing some redecorating over the last several months and we’ve gone with traditional forms as far as furniture but have branched out in the way of fabric colors and designs.
Past Christmases have been all about red and gold, but this year we changed it up a bit focusing more on gold and silver with hints of red and green. We made these changes after redecorating the family room in yellow and grey, and I have to say that everyone is VERY happy with all of the results. So join me for a special home tour, Enjoy!!!
The main tree sits in the family room at the back of the house off of the kitchen.
We changed some of the elements of the tree this year to silver and gold from red and gold.
A view of the “big” tree from the upstairs landing.
We change out the floral display in the center of the fireplace to correspond with the seasons, of course this time
of year we add greenery, lights and stockings.
My client is wild for animal print, so when I found this leopard print ribbon I knew we had to find a home for it somewhere. Her chair sits beside the fireplace, so I added it to the garland so she can enjoy it while sitting by the fire.
Mr. “Client” is a graduate of Texas A&M University, so we go full Aggie on this tree
we put up in the curve of the front staircase. Gig ‘Em!!!!!
There’s a strong military tradition at A&M
Across from the staircase and the Aggie Tree is the formal living room painted A&M red, in this room we kept the red and gold theme and decorations.
The dining room buffet decked out with a silver coffee service, photos and red hydrangeas.
The view from the front door as you enter the house.
You’re greeted by this gentleman as you head up the stairs.
A close up of the staircase decorations, green, silver, gold and white.
At the top of the stairs on the landing we always put up a “Patriotic Tree” in honor of the client’s son-in-law and the other men and women of the armed forces. My client’s son-in-law is a captain in the U.S. Army and has served 3 tours overseas, 2 in Iraq and 1 in Afghanistan.
Back down stairs the wet bar gets a holiday makeover as well.
There’s also a countertop kitchen tree decked out in all of the family’s favorite food and beverage decorations. From Starbuck’s to Bud Light and Cherry Pie, they’re all here.
I really enjoy decorating this house, I hope you’ve enjoyed the tour as much as I enjoy decorating the house. Have a great Tuesday.
