Art of Board may be the ultimate recycling story, truly taking what some would view as trash to awesome treasures. Located in Hanover, Pennsylvania, Art of Board was started by Rich Moorhead. Moorhead knew there had to be something worth while he could do with the pile of trashed skateboard decks his nephew was leaving behind, he started by making picture frames, mirrors and even occasional tables but there were still smaller pieces that he knew had to be good for something, and then it clicked, tile.
Today Art of Board produces different objects with their wall and floor tiles being their signature creation. To date their skateboard recycling movement has stopped more than 50,000 skateboard decks from being thrown into landfills. Tiles are produced at the Pennsylvania headquarters and in 2012 the company opened a west coast office where the fashion and home collections are developed. Let’s take a look at this unusual and totally rad use of recycled materials, Enjoy!!!
