I couldn’t let the month of February, National Cherry Month, pass by without doing one dessert post. I love cherries in desserts, from cherry popsicles to Cherries Jubilee I like ’em all, so I thought today I would share a dessert that is SO simple and SO good. It’s called Cherry Dump Cake, and while that might not be the most appetizing title for a dessert it’s very appropriate since you basically open your ingredients and dump them in a pan and bake. My mom used to make this a lot when I was growing up and then I have continued making it myself.
Here’s the recipe and some photos, trust me you have to try this, it’s easy and delicious. Enjoy!!!
Cherry Dump Cake
Ingredients:
One 20 oz. can undrained crushed pineapple
One can Cherry Pie filling
One package Yellow Cake Mix
1/2 Cup ( 1 stick ) Butter
Baking Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees
Grease a 9″ x 13″ baking pan
Dump the pineapple with juice into the pan and spread it out evenly, dump in the pie filling on top of the pineapple as evenly as you can. Pour the cake mix on top of the Cherry Pie filling, spreading it out evenly on top of the cherries. Cut the butter into pieces and distribute them out over the top of the dry cake mix.
Bake the cake for 50 minutes (my oven runs hot, so I started checking on it at 40 minutes and took it out at 45 minutes) or until the cake mixture on top is golden brown. This is great served hot or at room temperature.
After 40 to 50 Minutes, Voila’!!!!!!
You can substitute other pie fillings if you want, this is equally as good with blueberry pie filling. Dump Cake is a great dessert to serve to a crowd or small dinner party. Let me know if you make it or if this is an old recipe for you also. Have a great day.
