I love it when you stumble onto something that just makes you stop and go WOW, that’s what happened for me with Souda. Pronounced soh-duh, Souda is a Japanese word that when translated means “Oh Yeah”, they are a Brooklyn, NY based art and design group that specializes in furniture, lighting and home decor. I found Souda when I was perusing the website WorkOf.com looking for art and artists. The creatives and co-owners behind Souda are Isaac Friedman-Heiman, Shaun Kasperbauer and Luft Tanaka, the trio have already been winning awards and are showing up more and more in international showroom and retail outlets as well as major design publications.
Today I’m focusing on their Kawa Porcelain series of bowls and lighting but I know I’ll be back to check out their furniture and the shelving units I’ve been hearing about. The bowls are made of Porcelain Slip, which is poured into leather molds, the leather molds are what give the bowls their awesome shape and free form look. Enjoy!!!
