Alabaster ~ Sherwin Williams Color 2016

Last week we talked about Pantone’s choice(s) for the color of the year being Serenity and Rose Quartz so today we are going to talk about the choice of Sherwin Williams and what some are calling the lack of color in their choice of Alabaster. The paint company says that in choosing Alabaster they did so because we are living in a time of “commotion and overstimulation” and that the color Alabaster “offers a sense of personal solace and revival to weary minds”. So where would you use a color such as Alabaster for it to function best? The bedroom automatically comes to mind as a place we want to be peaceful as we try to stop thinking about the problems of the days and relax and go to sleep, as well as a home office where we try to find inspiration or calmness to work and accomplish our goals. Here’s a look at some images using Alabaster (SW 7008) and hopefully some inspiration for you in your home. Enjoy!!!

This living room’s walls are painted in SW Alabaster and I really like it. The color definitely gives you a neutral palette to work with in your home.

Here Alabaster is joined up with a lighter color for wood trim and darker colors on the ceiling and doors, a very smart looking room.

Again, we have Alabaster walls and lighter colored woodwork, a classic combo that always works especially with the dark colored cottage door.

These kitchen cabinets have been painted using SW Alabaster, love the use of black hardware and light fixtures.

Alabaster walls are paired in this room with classic lined furniture but updated in more current colors and metallic finishes on frames and some accessories.

Here Alabaster was used to paint the brick of this home, this is something we are seriously considering doing to our home to give it an update and make it more adaptable to other colors for trim and accessories like shutters.

This bathroom is totally bathed in the Alabaster color and I LOVE it, a very rich and contemporary bath.

Another room in Alabaster here paired with black to create contemporary stripes. I love how they used a very traditional table against the sleek stripes, modern rug, very contemporary dining chairs and light fixtures.

I personally am loving Alabaster and will seriously consider it this year for some color changes I’m wanted to make in my home as well as clients. Have a great Monday and Enjoy!!!
