One genre of art I really enjoy is Pop Art and French artist Gregoire Guillemin’s paintings of superheroes, movie characters, and other Pop Culture characters are awesome examples of Pop Art in the 21st century. In 2013 Guillemin, who signs his works Leon, started releasing works under the title Secret Lives of Superheroes, this collection shows pop culture superheroes like Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman going about the daily tasks such as brushing their teeth and answering the call of nature. Today Guillemin lives and works in Paris, in addition to superheroes Guillemin has also portrayed Disney characters and Snoopy. Guillemin has shown his original works in galleries around the world and prints are available online. I for one am looking to order a couple of his prints for our home, I love the colors, the humor, and the juxtaposition of superheroes performing mundane tasks we all take for granted every day. Here’s a look at the works of Gregoire “Leon” Guillemin to make you smile and chuckle. Enjoy!!! (above image via)
