de Gournay Plain Papers

It’s not all giraffes and exotic birds with de Gournay and their beautiful handmade wallpapers, today we are going to take a look at some of the lovely wallpaper from their Plains Collection. The Plains Collection is made up of papers that are definitely less over the top than the others we have looked at this week but they are anything but plain. Sometimes when you are using wallpaper you are wanting something that will add interest and texture to a room and you want to get that interest and texture “up” in the room and wallpaper is exactly what you need. The papers in the Plains Collection all have beautiful patterns to them, whether it’s damask, polka dots, or row upon row of squares. These papers come in amazing colors and are many times done on paper made of gold or silver. Join me for a look at wallpaper that’s gorgeous and definitely not plain. Enjoy!!! (above Raspberry Crescent Tulip Silk Damask)

Above and below we have 2 looks at the same paper, above is Olive Pineapple Damask which makes for a wonderful neutral backdrop in a room with the dramatic lighting of Fortuny chandeliers. Below we have Pineapple Damask in Duck Egg Blue which makes a beautiful place to lay your head at night, or maybe all day.

Geometrics are always a great way to make a statement and Hixmore Triangles on Sterling Silver Gilded Paper is definitely a statement maker. Wouldn’t this be great in a powder room or above wainscoting in a dining room?

White Metal Gilded Tea Paper creates a stunning look in this dining room. Can you imagine this room at night with the lights on low and candles flickering?

Sometimes polka dots are what you need to create the fun and elegant look you’re going for, here we have Bas Relief Dalmatian Spots on Gold Gilded Paper. Maybe my favorite.

I’ve been lucky enough to stay in some beautiful hotels but this hallway in the Beethoven Hotel in Vienna is gorgeous. The paper is Pitch Pineapple Damask

This photo gives you a better look at Bas Relief Squares, this time done on Tarnished Silver Gilded Paper.

Words are my own.
