Decorating For A Fall Party

Sorry for the radio silence last week here on the blog, I got busy helping a couple of clients with projects then I started not feeling well. I ended up with a case of Diverticulitis, which occasionally flairs up, but I’m better now, back on track and ready to work and blog.

One of my friend/clients is very active in the alumni group for the Chi Omega college sorority and often hosts their get-togethers in her home, she recently volunteered to host their Fall party and I want to share the decorating we did for the soirée. My client loves the holidays and now that she has grandchildren who recently moved back to Edmond, Oklahoma where she also lives she decided we would get out the Halloween decorations and do it up right. One thing about the Chi Omegas is that one of their symbols is the owl and my client has collected owls for years, so we incorporate those into her Fall and Halloween decorations. Join me today for a quick tour and a look at some fun and festive Fall decor, Enjoy!!!

This is a door I decorate several times a year for the different seasons, I had changed out the door swag at the end of August from Summer to Fall. For the party, we added a bale of hay to one side of the porch and pumpkins, I picked all this up at one of the local nurseries.

Into the hay bale, I stuck a Witchy welcome sign that I had bought last year and used in another post as well as an electric owl that is backlit with orange lights.

When you step inside the front door you are greeted by a round table that sits in the curve of the staircase. I usually do a large Fall floral on this table and I did it again this year, to the floral I added several pieces of Halloween decor my client already owned.

Here’s a closer look at the vintage inspired metal Owl sign, beside it I placed a glitter covered Haunted House and on the left it’s backed by a beautiful copper colored metal pumpkin.

Next to the entry is the client’s dining room, they were going to serve the food buffet style in here but changed their minds since they decided to opt for pizza and salad. We went ahead and decorated using my client’s collection of MacKenzie-Childs pumpkins and gourds. An MC beaded table runner in the center of the table was the base for the centerpiece and we used the new Charlotte’s Placemats from MacKenzie-Childs.

My client has 3 of these cute little owls that their witch hats bobble on springs, I set them among the MC pumpkins and gourds to keep our owl theme going throughout the house.

Here you can get a better look at the Charlotte’s Placemats from MC and the beautiful spider napkin rings they have to go with them. Using the gold cloth makes it easy after Halloween to take up the owls and placemats and keep everything else for Fall/Thanksgiving.

In the family room, I used more of my client’s Halloween and owl collection. I used a lace spider web runner on this sofa table and placed different items on it, including a sweet picture of her oldest grandson as a toddler at the pumpkin patch.

The ladies ate in the family room so we kept the decorations on the coffee table to a minimum so they could use it for plates and drinks. Fall potpourri in a tall pedestal bowl and a few pumpkins was all we needed here.

The ceiling in the family room is two story and the brickwork on the fireplace goes all the way up. We change out the floral arrangement on the fireplace for the seasons, I used fall colored leaves, berries and flowers to create a large piece. On either side of the vase I used ceramic pumpkins and gourds to add some color to the mantel itself.

The ladies had a great get together and appreciated all of our hard work, I hope you’ve enjoyed the tour and it inspires you to bring some Fall and Halloween into your home.

Have a great day!!!!
