Elegant Lacquered Walls

Lacquered walls are something that has been around forever and have always been one of my favorite wall treatments but unfortunately as with all beautiful things they are not cheap and take a lot of time. Recently I’ve been saying a lot more use of lacquered walls in home decor and it seems to look best in strong colors but by the same token lacquered walls in Gray will appear very elegant and timeless while Red lacquered walls will be strong and dramatic. The ideal situation is to have lacquered walls done when building a home because of the smell of paint and lacquer but it can be done in an existing home. Remember though you have to have the smoothest of smooth walls because any imperfection in the surface of the walls of a home will show through in the shiny, reflective walls. Today I’m going to share a look at some gorgeous lacquered walls, let me know what you think. Enjoy!!! (above image via)

This room doubled up on the lacquer treatment with it on both the beautiful Gray walls and the Gold ceiling. (via)

Here we see Pantone’s 2015 Color of the Year, Marsala, in a lacquer finish on the walls of this gorgeous study.

This entryway done in lacquered green walls is amazing and I love the complementary blue door that plays off the rug. (via)

Blue, Orange, and Gray are one of my favorite color combinations and it looks amazing here with lacquered Blue walls and the other colors as accents in the rug and furniture. (via)

Lacquered walls don’t have to always be strong intense colors. Here you can see how much drama is added to white walls when a little shine is added. (via)

The Baby Blue lacquered walls in this room echo the color of the sofa and work beautifully with all the yellows and neutrals going on. (via)

And, don’t forget the fifth wall of a room, THE CEILING. It’s always fun to look up and see something fun and/or dramatic to look at it. This ceiling was done in the kitchen of the 2015 San Francisco Decorator’s Showhouse. (via)

You can see all the traditional lines in this room but it’s all brought into the 21st century with the gorgeous blue on the walls and furniture and the lacquer finish on the walls. Old meets new in a beautiful way. (via)
