VOW Party Florals

February 26, 2019

A client friend of mine is part of a group called VOW, which stands for Visionary Oklahoma Women. Every month or so the group gets together to discuss projects and sometimes have a program presented by someone, last year I presented a program on florals at this same party. The February get together is always right around Valentine’s Day, this year it was a week later due to scheduling for a large group and it happened this past Sunday afternoon. My friend Teresa was the hostess for the party in her beautiful home in the country outside of OKC and Edmond, for the last few years I’ve been Teresa’s go-to guy for flowers for her parties, get-togethers and dinner parties. I stuck with Valentine colors for the flowers and did lots of Red, Pink, and threw in some Purple. I want to share the photos of the flowers with you and show you how some relatively simple arrangements go a long way in decorating for a party. Enjoy!!!

I have to start with the formal living room. This year Teresa left her Christmas Tree up after the holidays were over and decorated it with hearts and all red decorations for Valentine’s Day…

…and last week before the party she added red berets to the tree, one for every lady coming to the festivities on Sunday. Teresa even printed out the lyrics to the theme song from the Mary Tyler Moore Show so they could sing and toss their hats in the air. Isn’t this a great idea?!

Teresa has a Master’s in Music and Piano so her grand piano is front and center in the formal Living Room. Here we put a simple watcher pitcher on a plate and I did an arrangement.

In the formal, I did purple Alstroemeria, variegated Pittosporum, Purple Liatris for height and added a few red Spray Roses.

I did an identical arrangement in the same room on the other side of the room in a beautiful pewter pitcher.

The colors played beautifully against the soft green color this room is painted. I love red and purple together.

In the dining room, Teresa already had it set up for her food. I did three arrangements in low square vases and ran them down the center of the dining table.

In these arrangements, I did red Alstroemeria, pink Snap Dragons, some Pittosporum, and pink Spray Roses.

Teresa has a HUGE island in her kitchen where she often lays out food for buffets or the appetizers. I did a big vase in the center of the island with two bunches of Red Gladiolus.

There’s a beautiful sunroom on the back of the house with a glass topped table and all the cane furniture you see is the furniture that was in the TV room of Teresa’s parent’s home. She’s recovered the cushions in a beautiful blue and white print.

In the sunroom, I did two more square vase arrangements with Red Alstroemeria, Snapdragons, Pittosporum, and Pink Spray Roses.

All the bright colors played off beautifully on the blue and white furniture and the brightened up the bleak Oklahoma winter grass.

I love helping people get ready for parties and events in their homes and flowers are a great way to brighten up any room. I hope you enjoyed this little peek into my friend’s home and I’ll see you back here tomorrow. Enjoy!!!
