For my October design challenge with At Home, I chose Halloween Entry Way and I knew immediately whose entry I wanted to do. I called my client and friend SuSu and asked if I could decorate her staircase and entry hall table and she said, “of course”. She’s going to be out of town for Halloween but once her husband saw the decorations he loves them and wants them to stay up through the rest of the month. I wanted something that wasn’t too scary since SuSu has small grandchildren, but I definitely wanted it to look like Halloween, so I turned once again to At Home’s Tinsel collection as well as a few staples like Creep Cloth, lighted Jack O’Lanterns and a spooky tree. I can’t wait to share the photos with you of what I did and I’ll go more in-depth of how I created this on each of the photos. Enjoy!!!

Halloween Door Decor

I wanted to share with you a door I recently did for a client that I haven’t done before in the Fall. I texted her and asked if we wanted to do Fall or Halloween for her door and I was so excited when she said Halloween and knowing her I knew I had to work purple into the color scheme. I decided to go with Purple, Lime Green or Chartreuse and Black for the base and achieved that by using Mesh Ribbon in those colors and to use those colors and Orange to decorate around the door. I headed out to At Home to find decorations for the door and went with several of the pieces from their Halloween tinsel collection, I chose the cats and witches boots and added a couple of tombstones, spider webs, and big hairy spiders. My client and her husband are thrilled with the door and before I left we decided it needed a couple of wreaths. Again, I turned to Mesh Ribbon and At Home, this time using Orange, Purple and a little bit of Black for the wreath itself and hung a tinsel witches boot in the center. I’m very happy with how this turned out and even better so is the client. Halloween is fun because you can use crazy color combinations and it works, I can’t wait to show you what we do for the rest of the holidays. Enjoy!!!

10 Days Of Fall Decor: Harvest Mantel With At Home

September 23, 2016

For my At Home post for this month, I chose their Harvest Mantel challenge. I love decorating fireplace mantels, the fireplace is usually the focus of a room and one of the first things you see when entering a room so a beautifully decorated fireplace is always fun. I called one of my longtime clients, I decorate her home every year for all the major holidays and help her with her parties as well as any interior design work she does in her home. I told her I wanted to decorate her formal living room mantel because I wanted to do something different, I wanted a mantel that was more contemporary in look as well as use fall decorations in a neutral color palette. At Home has lots of Fall merchandise in white and gold which works so well with the grays, creams, taupes, and whites that so many people are using right now. I’ll stop talking and share pictures with you and explain my thinking along the way. Enjoy!!!

AtHomeFallAug2016 - 9

For my August post for At Home, I chose to do Fall Decor, it’s one of my favorite seasons with all the fun bright colors and I know cooler weather is just around the corner. I try to keep these posts fairly simple, where you can just walk into an At Home store pick out what you like and put it together. I came up with four different vignettes: Front Door, Breakfast Table, Coffee Table, and Bookcases. Here’s a look at what I created in the home of a friend, Enjoy!!!
